Taylor Ashton has teamed up with Benjamin Lazar Davis on new Single “Country Radio” out now!
From Taylor: "Please play my song on the country radio, (or any station for that matter). I wrote “country radio” while ruminating on how increasingly out of reach it is for somebody of my generation to earn enough money to buy a house without some serious generational wealth, and also, I heard once that the only genre still making money with recorded music is pop country. And while “country” has always been an ingredient in what I do, (and I plead “not guilty” to the pleasure and inspiration I take from well crafted, unabashed pop country music), this is the first time I’ve really tried fully inhabiting its stylistic world in a more exposed way. My friend Benjamin Lazar Davis is an earnest worshipper of pop country too, probably way more than me, so he got really excited when I played him this song. We both share an admiration for the boldness of the genre, how it knows exactly what it is, and isn’t shy about using a huge hook to talk about big feelings. I think the song is still very me, and the production is definitely very Ben, but I think if some pop radio DJs wanted to help us send this to number one I believe it could lovingly hold its own among the most sepia-toned backroad tailgate anthems out there. And if lightning strikes and this song buys me a house, I promise to host tons of sweet dinner parties and let every touring musician crash in the guest room."
