IN AVA’S WORDS:
““Mountain song” is actually not a metaphor, as I think a lot of people assume. While it would be an ample interpretation, this song is actually about a real life experience that I had when I was a bit too confident in my mountain climbing skills. I usually pride myself in my spontaneity, but this experience reminds me that caution is a necessary consideration. A friend and I ended up climbing up what we later learned was a rock climbing route on a very steep Alaska mountain. We managed to make it down safely, but it took many hours and it was not without its tragedy. This song is also about understanding my lack of control in the universe. I am at peace with the fact that I can only control my actions and nothing more, but I sometimes forget that the consequences of my actions are not under my domain.”
