"'Pretenders" was one of the first songs I wrote for 'The Romantic', and it's a love song, maybe with a sort of modern twist of honesty. Melodically, it's influenced by "crooked" traditional old-time tunes - I'm so inspired by the way some of those old songs and fiddle tunes have secretly squirrelly musical sections -- there will be an extra beat here, or an "out" note there, but it's not there to stick out or sound weird, it's just there because that's how it goes. Traditional folk music has a way of covertly being more complex than it sounds, and I tried to emulate some of that in what's essentially a pop love song." - Taylor Ashton

Taylor Ashton Releases Single "Nicole" off debut solo album out Feb 28th
On January 14th, 2020, the second single from Taylor Ashton's solo debut, The Romantic will be released. "Nicole", Ashton says, "is a song about fantasizing that you can rewind time." The song starts with a slow, almost sultry groove before reaching a catchy pop chorus that stealthily sneaks up on you. Ashton continues, "I have vivid memories of a time when the internet only seemed like a good thing and a benefit to our lives, and it just feels too big to try to put it back into its old box, when it didn’t seem like such a source of distraction, lies, and division. The seal is broken, but we can only try to evolve forward. The same thing can happen in relationships - something breaks and you can’t go back to the same innocent place you were at before."
Dinty Child Releases Third Single "I Made A Mistake" off debut solo album out Jan 17th
Dinty Child just released his third and final single off his upcoming album, Lucky Ones, out Jan 17th — “I Made A Mistake".”
Read below to learn what Dinty has to say about the track, and click the buttons below to hear the song for yourself! Don’t forget — Lucky Ones is out Jan 17th!
“Laura Cortese and I sat down to write together and I had the title phrase in my notebook. We talked for a bit and at some point, she started telling me a story about a mutual friend of ours and a time they were both at a party in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our friend was having a breakup conversation with his girlfriend in the States and had gone outside. He was gone so long, the hosts thought he had left along with everyone else, so they locked the doors and turned out the lights. Unfortunately, he had left his shoes inside and had to walk across the city as the sky started brightening to get home. This isn’t the first, or last, time a situation like this had happened to our friend, so we were imagining what was going through his (and her) head.” — Dinty Child

Dinty Child announces Kickstarter campaign to help fund debut solo album
Dinty Child just announced a Kickstarter campaign with a goal of $9,000 to help fund the finishing touches of his debut solo album — including an all-star tour.
Where are most of the funds allocated? Bringing in the band who recorded on the album — dozens of musical friends from Rose Cousins, Isa Burke (of Lula Wiles), to singer/songwriter Josh Ritter and all of Dinty’s bandmates from Session Americana.
Dinty says, “Rose will be flying in from Nova Scotia, Isa from Toronto, and Lauren [Balthrop] from Nashville, and since its unlikely I’ll ever get this lineup together again, I’m hoping to do a video shoot of the Oberon show for posterity. Those plane tickets, musician’s pay, plus feeding and watering will cost a lot of money...far more than I can expect to take in at the door. That’s where you come in.”
